Sarnie places in Melbourne to live by

The 4th Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu assembled the world's original sandwich in the 1700s. Bet he didn't know it would go viral well into the 2020's. Here in Melbourne, you will find it all from a humble chicken sarnie to a reuben, a chilli con queso jaffle, a decadent lobster roll and even an ice cream one. Let's start with three but check back again as we'll keep adding to the list.

Hectors Deli

A dead giveaway with the size of the queues, but go before the lunch rush, and you'll have your sanga on the go in a jiffy.

Our pick (though impossible to just choose one) is the chicken salad with lemon thyme and citrus mayo in the house-made sourdough Turkish bread. Paired with our Desert Lime x Carolina for a smack-you-in-the-face combo, or for a more friendly kick, go the Finger Lime x Jalapeno.

Ca Com Bahn Mi Bar

Quite partial to a bahn mi and prolific in Melbourne. Our pick from Ca Com's Bahn Mi's ridiculously delicious selection is the egg bahn mi with our Davidson x Habenero.

We love a takeaway but no one likes a soggy bahn mi, so the quaint little courtyard surrounded by potted chilli pots is perfect for a hot off-the-press situation.

King William

They have that hot burgery sauce running down your arms vibe. With a rotating list of sarnies, you never get bored but when we go it's the Kymmie that knocks our socks off.

Thankfully they have a shop in Fitzroy too but the city makes for a good pit stop when you're out and about.
